West End Football Club – Our Story

West End Football Club was founded in 2012 by Mike Wilson as a boys’ club, originally an extension of Albyn School football. Mike’s vision was clear: he wanted to create a club that welcomed children of all abilities, at a time when most youth football clubs focused only on elite players. His aim was simple but powerful — to give every child the chance to play football.

In 2017, the club proudly expanded to include a girls’ section, ensuring opportunities for both boys and girls to enjoy and develop through the sport.

Since its early days, the club has gone from strength to strength. From modest beginnings, we now have over 400 players, spanning year groups from 2009 to 2020, and we are proud holders of the SFA Gold Quality Mark, a recognition of our commitment to excellence in youth football.

A major milestone came in August 2023, when West End FC entered into an agreement with Sport Aberdeen to run the Hazlehead Pavilion and Playing Fields. This partnership has allowed us to establish West End Park, a first‑class environment where our players can grow, develop, and flourish in their football journey.

Today, West End FC stands as a registered Scottish Charity (SC052249), regulated by the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR). We remain dedicated to our founding values of inclusivity, community, and opportunity, while continuing to build a sustainable future for youth football in Aberdeen.
